Is Becker's nevus dangerous?
Becker's nevus is a type of mole. Medically, it is referred to as a hamartoma, meaning pigmentation, hair growth, and thickening occur together.
It is not congenital but can appear in the early years. As time passes, usually around puberty, hair growth may begin on the nevus.
It is more common in males and is typically seen in the shoulder and arm areas.
It is completely benign, meaning it is non-cancerous. There is no risk of developing malignant melanoma on it.
If it affects the person's aesthetic appearance, laser treatments can be applied in its treatment.
