What is hand rejuvenation and what can be done?
I often observe from my clients that while we take care of our face and neck, our hands tend to be a bit neglected. So, what do we do in our clinic to rejuvenate hands? I would like to briefly discuss this in this article.
As we age, our hands can lose subcutaneous fat, and we also experience sun damage leading to pigmentation and elastin-collagen damage. In other words, we can tell how old someone's hands look by the sunspots and the prominence of veins. Our main goal in hand rejuvenation should focus on these two fundamental components.
Sunspots on the hands sometimes appear as large round freckles that may spread to the arms. These spots can be treated in 2-3 sessions with dye light laser.
The visibility of veins is due to the loss of subcutaneous fat. Here, collagen fillers are quite effective. Hyaluronic acid fillers can also be beneficial.
For regular maintenance of our hands, we apply mesotherapy and collagen boosters, which we use on our face and décolletage, to our hand skin as well. This helps maintain and continue the skin's health. Of course, it's also important to remember to apply sunscreen to the backs of our hands, neck, and décolletage. Additionally, I recommend applying retinoic acid and vitamin C serums to the back of the hands as part of your daily routine.
In summary, the back of the hands is another area that we need to protect as we age, just like our face and décolletage. Device treatments, daily care, and mesotherapy youth boosters are among the therapies we apply in this area.
